Our story

The silence of satisfaction

The name Come e Cala-te literally translates to “eat and be quiet”. It’s something many Portuguese grew up hearing at the table. Not as a rule, but as a familiar moment. A small reminder to stop talking, start eating, and pay attention to what’s in front of you.

That idea is where we started. Come e Cala-te grew from a personal drive to bring Portuguese products and culture into everyday life in Northern Europe, without losing what makes them distinct.

We didn’t set out to become another importer. We saw how Portuguese products were often reduced to either a cliché or an anonymous product on a shelf.

Slicing Portuguese presunto

We chose a different approach. We build brands around the products we work with, each with its own role, audience and level of attention. Not everything belongs in the same place, and not everything should be presented in the same way.

This allows us to keep the character of what we bring over intact.

We believe a rare wine from a family-run quinta deserves a different stage than a traditional conserva or a hand-painted piece of stoneware. And we make sure it gets exactly that.

Motivation without compromises

With a view to long-term relationships

Camarão à Portuguesa

Our motivation is simple, and we don’t compromise on it. We want the next generation to grow up with a real understanding of Portuguese products, flavors and context.

This is not about selling more. It is about making sure that what matters is recognised and remains available. We work directly with producers and build relationships that are meant to last. Clear, consistent and based on mutual trust.

At the same time, we give our customers the context they need to understand what they are working with, whether that is in a professional kitchen or at home. That is how we make sure that what comes from Portugal keeps its meaning, once it arrives in Northern Europe.
