Dishmissed Foundation
Everyone a seat at the table
At Come e Cala-te, food is part of everyday life. It carries rhythm, memory, and connection. But there is a reality that is not always visible. Not everyone has a seat at the table. Stichting Dishmissed exists because of that reality. Long before we were importers or brand builders, we were people who recognised a need that could not be ignored.
Dishmissed did not begin as a plan or an initiative. It began with a child, a classmate of our own children, who came to play and stayed to eat, always asking for more. A conversation with the parents revealed something deeper. There was a structural lack of access to basic groceries. We recognised the situation instantly, because we had once been those people ourselves.
That moment forced a simple, unavoidable question. If you have the means to help, why wouldn’t you?
Stichting Dishmissed was founded before Come e Cala-te existed and operates independently. What connects the two is responsibility. Through Come e Cala-te, the operational costs of the foundation are covered. Products that can no longer be sold due to damaged packaging or an expired best-before date are redirected through Dishmissed instead of being discarded. In our ecosystem, leftovers and food waste do not exist. Good food ends up where it is needed most.
Most of what Dishmissed does happens in silence, protecting the dignity of the families we support. We are joined by other local companies, and even our producers in Portugal contribute structurally by donating food products. This allows good food to reach the right place at the right moment. We know we cannot change the entire world. But for the family who no longer has to worry about tomorrow’s meal, their world changes entirely.
By choosing Come e Cala-te, you become part of this story. Your support ensures the continuity of the foundation. If you would like to contribute further, through products or a financial donation, you allow us to reach more families at the moment they need it most.
Authenticity isn’t just about the quality of a wine or the origin of an olive oil. It is about how we look after one another when the doors are closed and nobody is watching.
